Import a Staffing Plan

WFM can generate shifts based on your staffing plans.

If you have historical data (from your ACD or an external file), then you can use the Forecast Wizard to create staffing plans.

However, if historical data is not available, then you can still import your own staffing plans using a CSV file. WFM will simply use your staffing plan instead of one created by the Forecast Wizard.

If you need to, you can download a CSV file template from the Import Staffing Plan window. If you upload your own CSV file, make sure it follows the template format.

The Scheduling Unit (SU) Name is a required field in the template. Each row in the file must include a valid SU Name that exists in the system. Files with missing or blank SU Name values fail validation and are not processed.

During import, the system checks that the SU Name field is populated for all rows. If any row is missing an SU Name:

  • The import is rejected.

  • An error message indicates that the SU Name is required.

The Import Staffing Plan template includes a note about this requirement. Before uploading, make sure each staffing record includes the correct SU Name.

For your staffing plan to accurately reflect your business needs, you should have a data line for every 15 minutes.

To import a staffing plan:

  1. Click the app selector icon of app selector and select WFM.

  2. Go to SchedulingImport Staffing Plan.

  3. Click Import Staffing Plan.

  4. Download the CSV file template to create your own staffing plan.

  5. Click Choose File to locate and select your CSV file, then click Open.

A new staffing plan with the same name as another imported file will replace that file. It will not affect previously generated schedules.

  6. Click Upload.

The staffing plan will appear in the list of plans, and will be available for generating a schedule.

When you generate schedules from an imported staffing plan, the staffing plan becomes active. Once active, it is used for schedule generation and cannot be deleted. Use the (Active) label in the Forecast Generation grid to identify the staffing plan currently in use.
