Off-Desktop Activity Tracking
Off-Desktop Activity Tracking enables agents to record time spent away from their workstation for activities such as breaks, meetings, training, or other work-related tasks. Instead of being marked simply as idle, agents can select an activity category and optionally add comments, providing a more accurate record of their time and activities.
When enabled by an administrator, off-desktop activities can be started directly from the CXDClient system tray icon. Agents can view the current activity, switch to a different activity, or end an activity at any time. If configured, activity information can also be displayed on the Windows lock screen while the workstation is locked.
Start an Off-Desktop Activity
-
In the Windows notification area, click the CXDClient icon. If the icon is not visible, click Show hidden icons.
If both off-desktop activities and business processes are configured, select Off-Desktop Activity when prompted.
-
Select an activity from the list.
The available activities are configured by your organization and are displayed in alphabetical order.
-
(Optional) Enter a comment.
You can enter additional information about the activity. Comments are optional and support up to 100 characters.
-
Click Start.
The activity begins immediately and is tracked until it is ended or changed.
Manage an Active Off-Desktop Activity
While an activity is active, the system tray menu displays the current activity and the elapsed time. You can:
-
Edit the activity comment to add or update additional information about the activity.
-
Select End Off Desktop to stop the activity and return to normal monitoring.
When an activity is ended, the current comment is sent to the server along with the activity information.
Lock Screen Activity Display
If the Show on Lock option is enabled by your administrator, activity information remains visible while your workstation is locked.
The lock screen displays:
-
The current off-desktop activity.
-
The elapsed duration of the activity.
When the workstation is unlocked, CXDClient automatically evaluates the activity status and prompts you as needed. For example, if an activity was left running, you may be prompted to end it. If no activity was active before locking the workstation, you may be prompted to record the time spent away as an off-desktop activity.
Configure Off-Desktop Activity Tracking
Administrators configure Off-Desktop Activity Tracking in the Desktop Discovery Client configuration file.
