Keyboard Navigation Guidelines

This page provides keyboard navigation guidelines to help users navigate through our NiCE CXone Mpower websites and applications efficiently using a keyboard or screen reader.

General Keyboard Navigation Guidelines

To move to the next item and through links, buttons, menus, forms, and dialog boxes, use the Tab key.
To jump directly to the main content, use the Tab and Enter key to activate the “Skip to content” link at the top of the page.
To move to the first item of a group or list, use the Home key.
To move to the last item in a group or list, use the End key.
To navigate between pages or sections, use the Page Up and Page Down keys.
To scroll one page at a time, you can use a combination of Shift and Space keys.
To move to the previous item, use the Shift and Tab keys together.
To activate buttons, links, and controls, use the Enter or Space keys.
To move between items in menus, tabs, sliders, or radio buttons, press the Arrow keys.
To close dialogs, pop-ups, or cancel actions, press the Escape key.
To move faster between sections, use a combination of the Ctrl and Arrow keys.

To move within a component, you can use the following keys:

To move up, use the Up Arrow key.
To move down, use the Down Arrow key.
To move left, use the Left Arrow key.
To move right, use the Right Arrow key.

Unique Component Keyboard Guidelines

Buttons, Links and Form Fields

To activate the item, use the Enter or Space key.

Checkboxes

To check or clear the box, use the Space key.

Radio Buttons

To select the current option, use the Space key.
To move between choices, use the Arrow keys.
To exit the radio button group, use the Tab key.

Drop-Down Menus

To move through options, use the Arrow keys.
To open the menu, use the Space key.
To select and close the menu, use the Enter or Escape key.

Menu Bars

To move between menu items, use the Arrow keys.
To open and select, use the Enter key.
To expand or collapse submenus, use the Left or Right Arrow.

Sliders

To increase or decrease the value, use the Arrow keys.

Tabs

To enter or leave the tab group, use the Tab key.
To switch between tabs, use the Left or Right Arrow.

Rearranging Agent Left Menu

In the Agent application, to rearrange items in the left menu bar using a keyboard and screen reader, first navigate to the menu item you want to move by using the Tab key.

Once the dotted element of the item is focused, activate Move mode by pressing the Shift and Spacebar keys.
Then, use the Up or Down Arrow keys to reorder the item to your desired position in the menu list.
