Active Forecast
An Active Forecast refers to the forecast instance currently in use for schedule generation. It ensures that scheduling is based on a consistent and reliable data set. Once a forecast becomes active, it is labeled with an (Active) tag next to the forecast job name in the Forecast Generation grid.
Example: Forecast_Job_1 (Active)
Key Characteristics
-
Only one forecast can be active at a time for a given scheduling period.
-
The (Active) label allows users to quickly identify the forecast in use.
Limitations of Active Forecast
-
Editing Restrictions: Once a forecast is active, the parameters defined in Step 1 of the forecast creation process cannot be edited. To make changes, create a new forecast job.
-
Deletion Restrictions: Active forecasts cannot be deleted. The Delete button is disabled for the active forecast row.
-
Forecast Retention: An active forecast remains visible in the Forecast Generation grid until all schedules generated from it have expired. This ensures traceability and prevents accidental deletion.
Best Practices
-
Plan forecast configurations carefully before activating, especially parameters in Step 1.
-
Monitor active forecasts regularly to track schedule expiration and forecast lifecycle.
-
Use the (Active) tag as a quick reference when managing multiple forecast jobs.
